Eutrophication

Photo: Jan Töve/NNitrogen and phosphorus discharged from sewers and leaching from farmland cause severe environmental problems in water and forest areas. Eutrophying substances are also transported by winds and deposited with rain and snow.

 

 

On 1 July 2011, the responsibility for most issues related to seas and freshwater, among them, eutrophication, was taken over by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (SwAM).
