EU and international cooperation

Environmental work in Sweden is to a large extent based on decisions  taken within the EU and through active cooperation in international organisations. Experts from the Swedish EPA participate in more than 150 working groups within the EU and some 90 groups in international organisations and multilateral environmental agreements.


In addition, we have development cooperation with a number of countries on environmental capacity building.

Swedish EPA in the EU

Four out of five Swedish statutory provisions on the environment result from our cooperation with the EU in Brussels. Here we present common EU issues and our priorities.

Working with international organisations

Our Nordic cooperative activities generate additional knowledge we need for our work with the EU. We also cooperate with several regional and global multilateral environmental organisations.

Development cooperation

The Swedish EPA is working on some 25 development projects together with other countries and international organisations. Our focus is on environmental capacity building.

Research

The new knowledge generated by the research programmes that we fund helps us achieve our mission and environmental quality objectives.
