Knowledge of the development of the problem of climate change and possible measures to deal with it are essential if effective decisions are to be taken at all levels. The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has a special role in pointing the way, nationally and internationally.

IPCC – leading the way

The UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) regularly assesses the current state of knowledge on the issue of climate change. Its aim is to produce impartial and quality-assured data on which political decisions can be based.

Maximum two degrees

Maximum two degrees – the EU does not want temperatures to increase by any more than that. ¬ But according to the IPCC this will require rapid and vigorous measures to reduce emissions.

Swedish climate research

Climate research is growing in significance in Sweden. A number of climate-related strategic research initiatives were prioritised in the Swedish Government’s most recent research bill in 2008.
