Sweden compiles annual data on its emissions of climate-changing gases as required by guidelines developed under the Climate Convention and the EU monitoring mechanisms. Emission figures for 2010 were published on 19 December 2011 together with revised figures for the years 1990–2009.
Emission estimation techniques are constantly being refined to improve their quality, and historical estimates are revised accordingly. The entire time series for most sectors is recalculated each year, and hence the emission figures for all previous years (1990–2009) have changed somewhat from the values reported earlier. According to the Kyoto protocol a special report for the carbon sink shall be reported for each year during the period 2008–2012.
Tables and greenhouse gas estimation techniques
The table below contains direct links to the files for the years indicated. The files, in excel format, are each of around 1,5 MB and contain approximately 70 pages of tables.
Estimation techniques are described
The estimation techniques used are described in "Sweden’s National Inventory Report 2012". Chapter 2 of this report also discusses emission trends and their causes. Sweden’s National Inventory Report 2012 was published on 19 December 2011.
Projections of emissions
Sweden's reporting obligations also include information on national policy strategies and actions as well as forecasts of its greenhouse gas emissions. These reports are submitted to the Secretariat of the Climate Convention every two years. The reports are available at Reportnet:
