Adaptation

Measures are being taken by nations as well as local and regional actors. However, global emissions have not yet shown any decreasing trend. It is therefore necessary for us to adapt to a warmer future climate.

Challenges await

A changing climate can lead to both increased and reduced vulnerability in comparison with the present-day climate. It may also be found to lead to vulnerability and adaptation in completely new areas.

Need for adaptation

The vulnerability of society is principally dependent on the extent to which the climate changes and how quickly this happens, but also on how prepared society is to respond to the change.

National efforts

Governments and local authorities throughout the world are now making ever greater commitments to a build-up of knowledge and measures to adapt to climate change. Sweden is no exception.

Who does what?

A number of authorities contribute to the work of increasing knowledge on safety issues, the vulnerability of society and the need for adaptation in Sweden.
