Norra Kvill National Park
Sights: Ancient mature virgin coniferous forest. Rich flora.
Area: 114 hectares.
Established: 1927, extended 1989.
Location: Approximately 10 kilometres north of Rumskulla in Vimmerby Municipality, Kalmar County.
Visiting Norra Kvill: The national park is located near the road between Vimmerby and Norra Vi, seven kilometres south of Ydrefors. A signed turn-off leads to a parking area, where there is an information display on the area´s natural history. An occasionally steep hiking trail leads past the two lakes, and up to an excellent outlook on Idahöjden.

Norra Kvill is something unique - a well-preserved ancient forest in the Småland highlands. The forest has not been logged for over 150 years and some of the pines are over 350 years old. There are pines which are 2.5 metres in circumference and 35 metres tall in height. Fallen logs, enormous boulders and vast trees make the area a wilderness, if on a small scale.
The park slopes down to a magical little forest lake, Stora Idegölen, with water lilies and buckbean.
There is a surprisingly rich flora, with several hundred species of higher plants, lichens and mosses. Norra Kvill's foremost sights are the ancient, vast coniferous forest and the rich flora.
